Discover Music Project: Episode 46
Friday, June 15, 2012 at 8:00AM
Karl returns to DMP and greatly expands Jonny's knowledge of Gorillaz, the "virtual band" created by singer Damon Albarn and comic artist Jamie Hewlett, along with a rotating cast of superstar producers and guest contributors. The group is loosely built around hip-hop and club music, but those are hardly strict boundaries, as you'll hear in Karl's selections:
1. Clint Eastwood [Gorillaz]
2. Sound Check (Gravity) [Gorillaz]
3. Latin Simone (Que Pasa Contigo) [Gorillaz]
4. 19-2000 (Soulchild Remix) [Gorillaz]
5. Feel Good Inc. [Demon Days]
6. November Has Come [Demon Days]
7. Dirty Harry [Demon Days]
8. Don't Get Lost in Heaven [Demon Days]
9. Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach (Plastic Beach)
10. Plastic Beach [Plastic Beach]
11. On Melancholy Hill [Plastic Beach]

Deltron 3030 - "Time Keeps on Slipping" [Deltron 3030]

For the record, "Plastic Beach" features guitar and bass from Mick Jones and Paul Simonon (respectively) of The Clash fame.
Funny you mention that...
LOL, my intuition was correct! Looking forward to it.
I had no clue how diverse the Gorillaz is/was .
I liked 19-2000 and already own Feel good inc, and Clint Eastwood but always wondered what the rest of their songs were like. I wasn't a fan of the rest of the music in this episode, because it's so hard to get my footing and get into a groove since its all so vastly different.
Now they did make a new song that released in February :
" Converse’s newest 3 Artists, 1 Song titled “DoYaThing” gets freakish as it brings together the perfect cocktail of Gorillaz, Andre 3000 and James Murphy. "

I like it. It's the kind of song that grows on you with repeat listens.
Hey I just stumbled upon this free podcast on iTunes. I really enjoyed it! I agreed with so many things you said about Gorillaz. Keep up the good work fellas! <3
